My dad helped us select the best piano for myself (adult returner to playing) and my 9 year old son, having been a past customer of Martin's. I needed advice on whether to go for a digital (had been looking online at the Yamaha Clavinova range) or acoustic upright. I had wondered whether a digital might meet our needs better, however, after visiting the shop and playing the instruments I was really happy to choose a Yamaha B1 upright piano. there was no comparison for sound and the B1 price.
Extremely happy with the service from Isaac and Martin and delivery and payment were arranged to get the piano from Glasgow to Scottish Borders. Highly recommend.
Having never bought a keyboard or piano before I went into this shop not really knowing what I was looking for. The staff explained the pros and cons of each different model with no pressure to buy. Fantastic customer service and I would recommend them to anyone.
We contacted Martin on the recommendation of our daughter's piano teacher, as we were interested in upgrading to a digital grand piano. After trying a few different pianos at a dealer local to us we contacted Martin again after we had settled on a Kawai acoustic baby grand (Martin had told us we wouldn't want to go digital when we heard the two side by side!!!). He explained to us the fundamental differences in the two models we were looking at and we took the plunge... very efficient delivery to us in Leicestershire and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you!
We recently bought our first Piano from Peter Smith and Sons. From our first visit into the showroom all the way through to the decision to purchase and installation, we felt hugely supported by extremely knowledgeable staff whilst at the same time, never feeling pressured into anything.
Installation and technical support since purchase has been very well received and very professional.
I would not hesitate to recommend Peter Smith and Sons for anyone interested in piano purchasing or related services.
Really pleased I decided to visit Peter Smith & Sons to buy my first real piano. I received great service and I really appreciated the advice I was given in the shop - I left feeling I had made a very well informed decision. Martin made sure I got the best piano I could for my budget and I couldn't be happier with it!
Just had my new piano delivered and I am absolutely over the moon with it! Martin managed to deliver within a week as I was desperate due to a broken key on my old one! Thank you so much for the quick and proffesional service my pupils will be so happy doing their lessons now!
At the end of last year I went to Peter Smith Pianos to try to choose a long awaited upgrade. With little experience in assessing instruments, and very shy of performing in front of others it was an anxious experience, but Martin and Isaac gave me all the time I needed over two lengthy visits, with telephone advice in between. They discussed the relative merits of the pianos I was interested in, played to let me hear them and left me alone to tinker around by myself. At no time did I feel pressed to make a decision. I finally chose a Boston upright, which was delivered just before Christmas by the amazing guys from Edinburgh. I'm so happy with this piano that I was quite distressed when, shortly after its first tuning, it developed a "click" on the E above middle C. Phone call to the showroom - Isaac reassured me that it would be a one off problem and could easily be fixed - further call from Martin to discuss and he promised to sort it. Isaac has been today (I'm 100 miles away from Glasgow) and all is well again. Being happy with aftercare is just as important as being happy with a purchase: full marks to Peter Smith and thank you.
Buying a Piano is much like buying a car or even a house! It is definitely not every day of the week that you undertake such a task and Martin and his team understand this extremely well and could not be any more helpful when trying to decide on your purchase.
I have been playing piano for years, but only ever played/owned digital pianos and did not know the first thing about acoustic pianos. Martin and Isaac took so much time out of their day to go over various pianos with me on several occasions and explained all the pros and cons which eventually led to me purchasing my absolutely amazing Yamaha U1.
I could not be more delighted with both my purchase and the service provided and look forward to many years to come with my new piano. If like me, you are slightly perplexed at the thought of what to buy, then you MUST speak to these guys for their honest and professional advice (with absolutely no salesman attitude).
A million thanks to Martin and the team.
My customer relationship with Martin lasted about 7 months until I could afford the piano I wanted! During this time Martin was patient, very pleasant to deal with and always happy to chat and answer questions in person or via email. Very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. Prompt delivery. He also ordered a stool for me which when he thought wasnt a good match for the piano he simply ordered another one for me with no fuss and without me having to ask. Very pleased with my beautiful piano. Thank you.
As a young man enthused and with a passion for music, I was delighted to move close to Great Western Road to find a piano shop also close to where I work.
I went on lunch break for a quick look around the shop and round the back and within a few minutes had a piano that was winking at me. Knowing myself, very little about piano products and having a Yamaha upright in my family for as long as I can remember, I enquired about a baby grand to sit at a window as an ornament and for playing. I was talked through the ranges and given a example on all types which made things very transparent to me.
I found my baby, agreed a price and was going back to convince my partner and speak to parents. The next week I took my parents into see the A. Geyer piano and Martin gave them a tour and fine example on the instruments. My mum who used to teach piano now wants a higher quality piano, I got my piano delivered within 2 weeks and the 3 delivery men who had to put it up to a first floor flat, proved to do so with no problem what so ever. Wheeling the piano to the door, using a clever lifting mechanism to get it up the stairs and then placing cloth on the stairs and sliding it up and wheeling it into position in the lounge. They assembled it and with gliders placed on the pianos feet, the 261kg piano slides easily on the wooden floor leaving no marks.
Fantastic service, wide range of pianos to choose from, educational staff and a very happy customer. Many thanks.
